Types of myofilament lattice of muscle. a 1:2 lattice (the myosin-to-actin filament number ratio is 1:2), seen in vertebrate skeletal and cardiac muscles. b 1:3 lattice, seen in insect flight muscles. c 1:5 lattice; d 1:6 lattice. These are seen in non-flight muscles of insects and in muscles of other arthropods. See also [19, 37]. The larger dots represent the myosin filaments, and the smaller dots, the actin filaments.
